As Salman Khan starrer 'Kick' releases today in more than 5,000 theatres across the country and 42 other countries including non-traditional markets like France, Germany, Morocco and Maldives, the major talking points have been whether it will deliver blockbuster box office collections.
The advance bookings for 'Kick' had already started and the data promises a bumper opening for the movie which stars Jacqueline Fernandez as the female lead opposite Salman Khan.
‘Kick’ also marks the directorial debut of Sajid Nadiadwala, known for producing the biggest potboilers like ‘Housefull’ and ‘Heropanti’ as well as ’2 States’ and ‘Highway.’
If at all there is any film that has been the talk of the town ever since it was announced, then, it has to be none other than the much awaited 'Kick'. Every Bollywood film fans is eagerly awaiting for its release. After all, it's not every day you get to see a Salman Khan film!
But the million dollar question is whether Salman Khan can push 'Kick' to blockbuster level and break the box office collection records held by Dhoom 3 or break the records of his earlier movies.
The opening day box office collection record belongs to Aamir Khan-starrer Dhoom 3 which made Rs 36.22 crore while Salman's hit movie 'Ek Tha Tiger' did Rs 32.93 crore. 'Dhoom 3' also holds the opening weekend box office collection records with Rs 107.61 crore. 'Ek Tha Tiger' generated Rs 100.16 crore.
Salman Khan's last film 'Jai Ho', which was released on January 24 this year, collected Rs 17.75 crore on opening day Rs 60.68 on opening weekend, Rs 88.78 crore in the first week with overall box office collections of Rs 116 crore (India business).
In comparison, Dhoom 3's overall box office collection in India was Rs 284.27 crore and more than Rs 500 crore in gross. 'Ek Tha Tiger's net collections was Rs 198.78 crore (India business).
