Salman Khan’s Jai Ho box office collections at Rs 88 crore beaten by Dhoom 3

Jai Ho box office collections posed no competition to record-breaking figures of Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3.

‘Jai Ho’ box office collections have failed to make its mark in the Bollywood business annals. The movie has failed to reach even Rs 100 crore in domestic box office collections as Salman Khan magic seemed to have wilted, despite having the benefit of knowing the film was chasing a mammoth record set by Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3.

Jai Ho collections posed no competition to the record-breaking figures of Dhoom 3, after having been billed as the ‘Khan vs Khan’ battle for supremacy

As per available figures, Jai Ho’s box office collections have been Rs 88.78 crore till Thursday (7 days) as far as India business is concerned.

In fact, Salman Khan has failed spectacularly if you compare Jai Ho with his earlier releases too. Jai Ho’s opening weekend figure of Rs 60.68 crore compares poorly with his last three films – Bodyguard (2011) did Rs 88.75 crore, Ek Tha Tiger (2012) Rs 100.16 crore and Dabangg 2 (2012) Rs 65 core.

“#JaiHo Wknd 60.68 crore, Mon 9.50 crore, Tue 7.30 crore, Wed 5.80 crore. Total: Rs 83.28 crore nett. India biz only,” tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh yesterday.

Dhoom 3 had done an exceptional Rs 174.98 crore during first six days’ business at the box office while Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 3 did Rs 153.08 crore and Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express Rs 130.35 crore.

Jai Ho has, however, managed to slip into the elite Rs 100-core club with the help of overseas collections. Though Jai Ho started on a slow note in the international arena, the film picked up and fared exceptionally well in UAE-GCC region, Pakistan and USA-Canada with the collections of Rs 22.38 crore. Overall, it managed to collect $4.5 million (Rs 28.20 crore) till Wednesday.

In Pakistan, Jai Ho collected Rs 2.21 crore in the opening weekend.

‘Jai Ho’ had collected a ‘meager’ Rs 17.75 crore on its opening day. Though the film’s business did pick up on January 26 and collected Rs 26 crore, it was unable to sustain it the next day. Aamir Khan-starrer Dhoom 3 has the highest opening day domestic box office collections of Rs 36.22 crore.

Salman Khan, who had earlier taken the blame for the ‘qualified’ debacle of ‘Jai Ho’, took to Twitter to thank fans for their support.

The day-to-day box office collections of Jai Ho are as follow (India business):

Day 1 (Fri): Rs 17.75 crore

Day 2 (Sat): Rs 16.68 crore
