Superstar Salman Khan 'Kick' box office collections have been on a record-breaking spree. The film, which raced to become the highest opener and opening weekend grosser of the 2014, is still doing brisk business – with plenty of action – at multiplexes and managed to generate overall (worldwide) collections of Rs 216 crore till Friday, beating 'Dabangg 2' record.
According trade analyst Taran Adarsh, 'Kick' box office collections had been Rs 173.31 crore in the domestic market till Friday while generating Rs 42.85 crore revenue overseas in seven days.
'Kick' thus becomes the seventh highest grosser of all time, behind Dhoom 3, Krrish 3, Chennai Express, 3 Idiots, Ek Tha Tiger and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
As per the data available from outside India, the highest collections were from USA/Canada market with Rs 9.76 crore. 'Kick', which was released ahead of Eid, also became the highest holiday grosser in Pakistan with an estimated earnings of Rs 20.8 million.
Salman Khan, who has been delivering hit films back-to-back, had taken five days to enter the Rs 100-crore club for 'Kick'. In comparison, Aamir Khan's 'Dhoom 3' was the fastest film to reach the coveted mark in three days, followed by Shah Rukh Khan's starrer 'Chennai Express' and Hrithik Roshan starrer 'Krissh 3', both in four days.
This year, the first film to open the roster for the Rs 100 crore club was the Salman starrer 'Jai Ho' that crossed the Rs 100 cr mark in eight days.
‘Kick’, also starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui minted a whopping Rs 50 crore in two days of its release. It opened to mixed response from critics but earned nearly Rs 27 crore on the opening day. The first weekend collections beat all of Salman’s previous records except 'Ek Tha Tiger' (Rs 32.93 crore).
