Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’ box office collections stumble in effort to pass Aamir Khan’s Rs 500 cr mark

Salman Khan magic pushes ‘Kick’ box office collections to Rs 274 cr.

Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’, which has been making box office collections magic for the last 10 days, seems to have faltered a bit in in its quest to beat Aamir Khan’s ‘Dhoom 3’, that set new benchmarks in Bollywood business.

‘Kick’ box office collections, although great, are sliding a little bit and with Akshay Kumar-Tamannaah starrer ‘Entertainment’ releasing tomorrow, the negative impact may get stronger.

The Salman Khan-starrer has been doing excellent business at the box office and many have seen it as an indication of greater things to come, but this has been built on the fact that there was no competition in cinemas – no major Bollywood release happened in last 2 weeks.

But there’s a chance that the film may fail in its quest to topple ‘Dhoom 3’ as ‘Kick’ collections in week 2 took a sudden dip – Friday Rs 9.22 crore, Saturday Rs 10.62 crore, Sunday Rs 14.18 crore, Monday Rs 5.08 crore, Tuesday Rs 4.21 crore, Wednesday Rs 3.91 crore.

Nevertheless, predictions have already been made that ‘Kick’ will definitely challenge Dhoom 3’s humongous box office collections record.

In fact, ‘Kick’ and ‘Dhoom 3’ are almost head-to-head in the first week, with Salman bhai’s film actually beating Aamir Khan’s flick on two days (check data below).

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, in a tweet, has pegged ‘Kick’ box office collections at Rs 211.31 crore net, till Wednesday.

Kick has also done fabulous business in overseas markets like UK, US/Canada and UAE. With box office collections of $ 10.25 million (Rs 62.85 crore), the film is already the highest grosser of 2014 in overseas territory. Kick’s overseas tally will go up significantly with many screens yet to report figures.

‘Kick’ box office collections (worldwide) stand at Rs 274.16 crore. It has already surpassed ‘3 Idiots’ in box office collections and is now the fourth biggest grosser of all-time, behind ‘Dhoom 3’, ‘Krrish 3’ and ‘Chennai Express’ as per the domestic business is concerned.

Kick’s success also makes Salman Khan the first Bollywood actor to have seven Rs 100 crore movies to his credit. It has also made director Sajid Nadiadwala the only debutant to hit a double century in Bollywood.

?Kick?, also starring Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda and Nawazuddin Siddiqui minted a whopping Rs 50 crore in two days of its release. It opened to mixed response from critics but earned nearly Rs 27 crore on the opening day. The first weekend collections beat all of Salman?s previous records except ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (Rs 32.93 crore).
