The Supreme Court on Wednesday sought reply from the Centre, Omita Paul, secretary to the President, the CBI and others on a public interest litigation challenging the appointment of Sebi chairman UK Sinha.
Petitioner Arun Agarwal while alleging various irregularities in Sinha?s appointment is seeking his removal. A bench headed by Justice SS NIjjar, however, refused to seek response from the government on the plea to order a probe into the procedure adopted to appoint Sinha as Sebi chairman. Paul was advisor to the then finance minister Pranab Mukherjee when the decision to appoint Sinha as Sebi chairman was taken by the government.
