A day after a Class XII student of Rotary Public School committed suicide allegedly by hanging herself after she was chided for texting a friend during class, the Gurgaon police on Friday dispatched a team to Punjab to apprehend a “friend” of the girl.
According to police, the friend had also come to visit the girl last year at the school. A case was registered against him on Thursday night after the girl’s parents alleged that he had been harassing her.
The Rotary Public School had declared a holiday on Friday owing to the girl’s death.
“We could never have imagined that she would take such a step after she left the vice-principal’s office on Thursday. We had to inform the parents about the mobile phone and the messages since that is our duty. She was hardly scolded,” school principal Gulshan Dewan said.
