‘Singh Saab The Great’ box office collections better than ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’, claims director

Director claims Singh Saab The Great has scored better with its box office collections as it is Sunny Deol?s comeback solo film.

Singh Saab The Great box office collections seem to have fared better than Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, says Director Anil Sharma in an interview.

As a director, I was very confident of the film and now people have also liked it. The film has great energy and the content is also good. Sunny Deol is a big star, but he has not had a solo release in a very long time; his last was The Hero: Love Story of a Spy. He has a big fan following. Singh Saab… is a sort of comeback film in the solo lead and his image is still very strong and fresh in the minds of the people, which is why he has been welcomed with great love and respect.

As for Gori Tere…, I have not yet seen the film. So I cannot comment.

What is the collection since its release on November 22?

Today is just the fourth day and I am happy with the way the film is faring at the box-office. In fact, it is getting better by the day. On the opening day, Singh Saab… collected around Rs. 6 crore, on the second day, it was about Rs.6-7 crore, and on Sunday it went up to around Rs. 10-12 crore. The collections for Monday are yet to come in. The film, which was made on a budget of Rs.30 crore, has garnered

about Rs. 23 crore.

Which territories is it doing well?

We had thought the film would do well in single screens, but surprisingly it is doing well in the multiplexes. Yesterday (Sunday) all the multiplexes were full. Also it is doing well in places like UP, Punjab, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, West Bengal and in most of the cities. However, the response has not been

too good in the South.
