SummaryNow the Class 12 students of the college can fill the exam forms online for the 2014 board exam.

The Sir Parshurambhau College (SP College) officials have said that the Bombay High Court has set aside the decision of Pune division of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) to de-recognise the index number of the college. Now the Class 12 students of the college can fill the exam forms online for the 2014 board exam.

The MSBSHSE Pune division had on November 26 ordered cancellation of the index number of the college for the “refusal” to file an FIR against a former Class 12 student who had faked his marksheet. The order implied that the current Class 12 students cannot submit their exam forms and therefore cannot appear for the board exam as students of the college. The board had also said that the marksheets of students who had appeared for October-November repeater exams will also not be given.

The Shikshan Prasarak Mandali that governs SP College along with college officials had on Thursday filed a writ petition in the HC. “There were three issues. The first about not giving October-November exam students’ marksheets and the second about not allowing online submission of Class 12 exam forms. The divisional board voluntarily withdrew their decisions on these two issues. Hence these students don’t have to worry,” said Jayant Shaligram, trustee of Shikshan Prasaran Mandali.

“As far as the decision of cancelling index number is considered, the court set aside that order of the board. Hence our index number is intact. Even the showcause notice issued from deputy director’s office has been set aside by the court. What state board did to us is a case of exploitation. Just because we had the resources we could go to court. But what if this was some small college? No college should suffer like this,” said Shaligram.

MSBSHSE Pune division chairman Sunil Chauhan said, “Yes, it is true that we withdrew our decision to not give marksheets to students who gave October-November exams. We also withdrew our decision to not allow class 12 students to submit exam forms for 2014 board exams. This itself means that the college has its index number intact otherwise how will the students submit forms.”
