A city court Thursday adjourned the hearing in the defamation case filed by former IPS officer R B Sreekumar against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Rajnath Singh and others over attacks on him in the ISRO spying case after the lawyer for one of the accused requested time to submit arguments. The matter was adjourned till November 26.
Sreekumar, who retired as the Director General of Gujarat Police, had filed the complaint on Monday. BJP’s spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi and Nambi Narayanan, a retired scientist of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre are also named as accused in his complaint. On Thursday, Advocate Vijay Aggarwal, appearing as counsel for Nambi Narayanan told the court that Sreekumar’s petition was “misguiding the court” and was based on “falsity”.
Sreekumar’s Advocate Brijesh Kalappa, however, argued that as the complainant, the court should first hear him. The lawyer then asked for some time to submit arguments.
