State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) posted a 91% increase in net profit for the quarter ended September to R311 crore from R163 crore in the year-ago period. The increase in profit was due to intensive NPA recovery, which helped reduce the lender’s gross NPA levels.

While net interest income rose 7%, net interest margin rose from 3.09% to 3.17%. The bank said its provision coverage ratio improved from 55% in June 2014 to 58.57% in September. Gross NPAs fell from R6,174 crore in June 2014 to R5,654 crore in September 2014. As a result, the gross NPA ratio declined from 6.26% to 5.73% and net NPA ratio reduced from 3.37% to 2.87%. The personal segment loans portfolio increased 15% y-o-y from R20,189 crore to R23,212 crore and the housing loan portfolio rose 21%.

The capital adequacy ratio as per Basel-III norms was 11.20% with CET-1 at 8.54%. The bank’s total business stood at R 2,19,307 crore consisting of total deposits of R1,20,664 crore and total advances of R98,643 crore.
