Sugar prices tumbled by Rs.100 per quintal in the national capital today following sluggish demand amid huge stocks position.

Marketmen said apart from plenty of stocks in the markets, regular supply from mills amid sluggish demand, mainly pulled down sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices plummeted from Rs.3300-3600 and Rs.3275-3575 to settle at Rs.3270-3500 and Rs.3250-3475 per quintal.

Similarly mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices plunged from Rs.3100-3520 and Rs.3075-3500 to finish at Rs.3060-3450 and Rs.3040-3425 per quintal respectively.

Among millgate section, sugar Budhana lost Rs.90 at Rs.3400 per quintal, while Mawana dropped by Rs.50 at Rs.3410 per quintal.

The following were today quotations per quintal: Sugar ready: M-30 3,270-3,500, S-30 3,250-3,475. Mill delivery: M-30 3,060-3,450; S-30 3,040-3,425.
