Supreme Court orders BSES discoms to pay dues to Gencos

BSES discoms together owe the Gencos an estimated Rs 850 crore till the end of March.

THE Supreme Court on Wednesday passed an order directing the ADAG-owned discoms, BSES Rajdhani Power and BSES Yamuna Power, to pay outstanding dues pending since January 1 they owe to power generation and transmission companies, reports fe Bureau in Mumbai. The discoms together owe the gencos an estimated R850 crore till the end of March.

The court said there should be no unnecessary delay in fulfilling payment obligations.

While the BSES companies are required to provide details of the dues to the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission, the regulator needs to provide BSES with a questionnaire on the roadmap to be followed in recovering the dues, the apex court said.

The court, however, added that the state-run NTPC must continue supplying power in the interim period.

The two BSES companies have been embroiled in a dispute with the genco since February 1.
