Tata Motors Group global wholesale numbers continued their year-on-year decline in March 2014 even as they showed signs of improvement sequentially. Global wholesales, including those of Jaguar Land Rover, declined 17.9% year-on-year to 95,668 vehicles while cumulative wholesales for the fiscal were down to 10,09,776 vehicles, a decline of 15.6% for the said period. Month on month, global wholesales, including those of Jaguar Land Rover, were up 19.5%.
Commercial vehicle sales took the biggest hit, declining 35.4% to 39,248 units. Cumulative CV wholesales for the fiscal stood at 434,621 units, a decline of 27%. Month on month, CV sales were up 34.3%.
Global wholesales of all passenger vehicles in March 2014 were 56,420 units, a rise of 1.2% compared with the year-ago period. On a month-on-month basis, the rise was 11%. Cumulative passenger vehicles wholesales for the fiscal, however, declined 4.3% to 575,155 units.
Global wholesales of passenger vehicles in March remained flat at 13,109 units although, on a month-on-month basis, there was a rise of 11%. Cumulative wholesales for the fiscal declined 36.5% year-on-year to 145,294 units.
Jaguar sales rose during the period. Global March wholesales for Jaguar Land Rover were 43,311 vehicles, a rise of 1.5% while Jaguar wholesales for the month were 8,179 vehicles, a rise of 7.3%. Cumulative wholesales rose 37% to 79,307 vehicles. Land Rover wholesales for the month remained flat at 35,132 vehicles while cumulative wholesales rose 11.5% to 350,554 vehicles. Cumulative wholesales for JLR for the fiscal were up 15.5% to 429,861 units.
