Tata-Singapore Airlines Ltd (TSAL) today unveiled its brand name and said it hoped to launch operations by mid-October this year, provided all the clearance from the authorities are in place.
The brand logo, named 'Vistara', meaning 'limitless' in Sanskrit was unveiled at an event in Delhi by top official of the Tata-SIA, a 51:49 joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines.
"Tata Group's and SIA's legendary hospitality and service excellence will make Vistara a natural choice,” said Prasad Menon, Chairman, TSAL.
Stating that the airline is immensely bullish on aviation sector in India, Tata-SIA director Swee Wah Mak said, “We aim to provide the kind of service both corporates are known for.”
"Tata SIA focussing on getting airline off the ground, not on cost-cutting," he said.

Asked about conflict between AirAsia India - in which the Tata group is a JV partner - and Tata-SIA, he said the airlines are not seen as competitors as they don't operate in the same segment.
According to documents submitted to aviation regulator DGCA, it plans to begin services in five cities and go up to 11 within a year of operations. The airline would have 87 weekly flights, linking Delhi with Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jammu, Srinagar, Patna and Chandigarh.
