TDSAT may give interim order on Voda plea today

The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal is likely to give an interim order on Wednesday over Vodafone’s petition against the one-time spectrum fee that the government has asked operators to pay.

The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) is likely to give an interim order on Wednesday over Vodafone’s petition against the one-time spectrum fee that the government has asked operators to pay.

The company had filed a petition in the TDSAT, pleading a quashing of a department of telecommunications (DoT’s) order under which it has to pay R2,094 crore out of the total R 3,599 crore by January end. Among the other incumbents, Airtel has to pay a total amount of R5,201 crore levied on the company as one-time charge for additional and excess spectrum it holds. Earlier this month, DoT issued demand notices to eight companies, asking them to pay one-time spectrum charges as decided by the government.
