The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) is likely to give an interim order on Wednesday over Vodafone’s petition against the one-time spectrum fee that the government has asked operators to pay.
The company had filed a petition in the TDSAT, pleading a quashing of a department of telecommunications (DoT’s) order under which it has to pay R2,094 crore out of the total R 3,599 crore by January end. Among the other incumbents, Airtel has to pay a total amount of R5,201 crore levied on the company as one-time charge for additional and excess spectrum it holds. Earlier this month, DoT issued demand notices to eight companies, asking them to pay one-time spectrum charges as decided by the government.
