The Royal Scotsman launches golf tour

The Royal Scotsman is often referred to as ?a country house on wheels?, and accommodates 36 guests in Edwardian style carriages.

The Royal Scotsman, UK?s only luxury sleeper train has launched The Golf Tour, an exclusive five-day journey exploring Scotland?s famed golf courses. Departing from Edinburgh just twice, on May 18, 2014 and September 22, 2014 this journey will be highly sort after.

The train will travel through the Scottish Highlands, transporting guests between three of the region?s most prestigious courses, namely The Royal Dornoch, the most northerly of the UK?s championship courses; Castle Stuart Golf Links, the host venue of the Scottish Open for the past three years; and Cruden Bay Golf Club, designed by golfing legend Tom Morris.

Those wishing to follow in The Ryder Cup?s footsteps can stay one night?s at The Gleneagles Hotel and Spa, home of this year?s competition, before the May departure.

The observation car, with its open veranda and seating, provides an ideal spot to take in the passing landmarks such as the Kyle of Lochalsh and Cairngorms National Park, while sampling Scottish whiskies from the bar.
