In a first, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has decided to use banks to store question papers for the forthcoming Class X and XII reappear examinations beginning from September 4. This practice would also be followed during the annual exams to be held in March 2013-14.
The Board has decided to send question papers through Punjab National Bank and the HDFC Bank to prevent leakage of question papers from examination centers. The examination controller and superintendent would collect these question papers on the day of the exam from the nearest branch of the bank. Question papers would be sent to various branches of the banks a week before the exams. The arrangements made by the banks to ensure that question papers are not leaked, have not been made public.
The board has set up 192 examination centers at the tehsil level. A total of 1,35,376 students would be appearing in the examination for improvement or opt for additional subject, reappear exams for Class X students and Arts group of Class XII.
According to the board spokesman, the banks have already been informed about the strength of students in the government schools nearest to them.
