Turmeric, Jeera decline on subdued demand

In limited deals, prices of turmeric and jeera fell by Rs 100 per quintal.

In limited deals, prices of turmeric and jeera fell by Rs 100 per quintal each in the national capital today on subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.

Turmeric prices declined to Rs 6,200-9,500 per quintal, while jeera common and best quality fell to conclude at Rs 14,700-14,800 and Rs 17,900-18,400 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said sluggish demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks mainly pulled down turmeric and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.

Ajwain 10,000-15,500, black pepper (per kg) 450-550, betelnut (kg) 160-195, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 850-950, and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,000-1,500.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 720-800, cardamom (colour robin) 670-770, cardamom bold 720-770, cardamom extra (bold) 970-1,000 and cloves (kg) 600-675.
