After its successful entry into Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, TVS & Sons, the holding company of TVS group, will enter into Turkey, Thailand and Nigeria to set up either distribution centres or assembly plants to boost TVS Motor?s two-wheeler sales.

The TVS parent is also open to set up distribution network for other auto original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), who seek to sell their products in those countries which are not tapped so far, a senior official of the company said.

SV Nana Rau, senior vice-president, TVS & Sons, said, ?We are looking at markets such as Turkey, Nigeria and Thailand to either set up assembly plants or distribution network centres to sell all kinds of TVS Motor products. Given our successful entry in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, we seek to enlarge our scope of activities further and may look at more countries for such activities.?

?On an average we have been selling 7,500 units of two wheelers and 3,500 units of auto a month in these two countries by importing in CKD format and assembling at local levels. We also distribute spare parts in these countries. Based on this success, the company will explore newer markets and three countries have been identified,? he said.

?Our entry into newer markets will be either through new assembly plants or by replacing existing distributors who have not performed well over the years,? he said, adding, TVS Motor has been exporting to over 60 countries.

?TVS & Sons, under the name of Sundaram Automobiles, has been the leading distributor of Mahindra Navistar?s light commercial vehicles over the years in Kerala and has now started to distribute heavy commercial vehicles in this state. As a long-term partner with M&M group, we will soon expand our relationship (distribution) to states like Karnataka and a few states in the northern region,? he added.

On the possibility of taking up distribution aspects of other OEMs, he said, ?We are keen on those markets which have not been tapped.?
