Two teenagers, studying in Panchkula, lost their lives in a car accident on Monday evening near Parwanoo.
While, the deceased have been identified as Prateek and Amandeep, the accident left two more teenagers injured with the fifth person, who was driving the car, absconding. Identified as Harshdeep and Amit, the injured have been referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).
The driver of the car has been identified as Raman. With other details about him still missing, the police has identified the other four as hotel management students of a Sector 14 institute.
On Monday afternoon, the five had decided to take a trip to Kasauli. It was while they were on their way back, around 7 pm, that Raman allegedly lost control of the car near Jabli where the car fell 50 ft downhill.
With the driver fleeing, the rest were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Parwanoo where Prateek and Amandeep were announced dead on arrival.
Amandeep and Harshdeep were brothers who hailed from Amritsar and stayed as tenants in Zirakpur. Prateek was a resident of Sector 19, while Amit resided in Sector 25. “The four students were between 17-19 years. Details about Raman, who was driving their car, are yet to be discovered. An investigation is on,” informed a police official.
A case has been registered against Raman for rash driving, causing death by negligence and causing hurt by endangering life or personal safety of others under sections 279, 304-A and 337 of the Indian Penal Code at the Parwanoo Police Station.
