Uday Kotak, founder, executive vice-chairman and managing director of Kotak Mahindra Bank, has been named the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year 2014. Kotak, awarded at a ceremony in Monaco, was selected among 60 finalists from 51 countries, each of whom has already been named the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year in their home countries.
Kotak is the second person from India to win the coveted award, and his selection comes 11 years after NR Narayana Murthy of Infosys won in 2003.
“Uday has done India proud by winning the global title in the midst of 60 business leaders from around the world. We are delighted as this not only recognises and celebrates his outstanding achievements, but also raises the Indian flag to new heights,” said Rajiv Memani, country managing partner for EY in India.
