The University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University inaugurated its third annual tech and online fest, Aavishkar’13-The Renaissance, on Friday. The fest was inaugurated by the CEO of IDFC company, Kalpen Parekh and UIET faculty members.
The fest, which began with various technical and management events, was divided into different branches like, electronics, mechanical, biotech, computer and IT, under which events like telepathic line follower, web developer, jumble-mumble, hacktrix, innovatica, vengaence, bio quiz, colour detector and robowars were organised.
Additionally, members of UIET launched an official T-shirt, the design for which was prepared by the students themselves.
Around 1,000 students from IIT Delhi, Kharagpur and Roorkee and also from Tricity institutes, including PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET), Thapar, Chitkara Institute of Engineering are part of the three-day fest.
Other events at the fest will include a screening of the movie ‘One Idiot’ by Amul Gupte, a flagship event where even school students can participate.
In the flagship event, students will be asked to prepare models on eco-friendly subjects and sustainable development. In addition to this, the conveners of the fest are planning to invite a rock band for the fest, which will include a road show, where companies like BMW and Mahindra will participate.
