The chargesheet recently submitted by CBI in the 2004 Ishrat Jahan encounter case indicates a unique connection between suspended IPS officer D G Vanzara and controversial godman Asaram Bapu.

According to the chargesheet, Vanzara would not only issue unlawful instructions to his subordinates, but also ask them to perform such jobs as bringing cow milk for him from Asaram?s ashram in Motera village.

An armed police constable, Amarsinh Vanzara, has stated in his statement to CBI that on June 15, 2004, he, along with two other policemen, had gone to Asaram?s ashram to bring cow milk for Vanzara.
