According to the DNS Changer Working Group (DCWG), a body comprising of internet security experts, private companies and universities, India has over 21,000 computers which is likely to be infected by the malware. India is the third largest affected country after the United States and Italy.

The computer users will come to know if they are affected by the DNSChanger Malware when they are unable to access the internet on Monday, when the US government shuts down the servers that were temporarily used to check this malware. In response to these developments, many anti-virus software providers are putting up information on their websites how to check presence of this malware and the solution.

Anti-virus software firms like McAfee and Kaspersky are providing some free tools on their websites to allow users to check whether their computers are infected by this malware. Even DCWG website has provided guidelines to check the presence of this malware.

The DNSChanger Malware is a virus which would hit computers by redirecting the computers to rogue servers to get access to valuable information and also engaged in transferring money via fraudulent means.
