Ex-councillor and educationist’s son’s car turns turtle after hitting road berm
A 22-year old resident of Phase X, Tarandeep Singh, was killed in a car crash on the Sector 66-67 road near Mandi Board Chowk in Mohali on Saturday. Son of former municipal councillor and educationist, Mohanbeer Singh Shergill, Tarandeep was returning home from the Sector 66 side when his Ford Fusion car turned turtle after hitting a speed breaker, the police said.
The accident took place at around 12.30 pm when Tarandeep was turning his car left on the slip road. After hitting the speed breaker, the car turned up and down four-five times before coming to a halt.
Local police reached the spot and had a difficult time retrieving the victim from the mangled remains of the car. With serious injuries on his head, chest and other vital body parts, Tarandeep was rushed to Fortis Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on the Shergill’s house as the news of Tarandeep’s death broke out. His parents were inconsolable and a large number of relatives, friends and colleagues had a tough time consoling them.
Anandpur Sahib MP Ravneet Singh Bittoo, local MLA Balbir Sidhu and District Planning Committee Chairman, N K Sharma have condoled Tarandeep’s untimely demise and have expressed their sympathy to the family.
