The German luxury car maker, BMW, has now planned something unique for the much growing, Indian car market. It now looks forward to introduce the i8 petrol-electric hybrid supercar at the forthcoming Indian Auto Expo, 2014, commencing from first week of February. This carbon bodied supercar is said to be the most expensive car from the car maker in the Indian sub-continent. It is anticipated to be priced at somewhere around Rs. 1.5 crore. With the all new i8 hybrid car, the company claims to deliver sports car performance with the efficiency of a compact car. This thought provoking sports car will come powered by a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that will churn out a maximum power of 357 bhp and peak torque of 570Nm. The company should have initially launched the i3 electric that measures less than four meters as the demand for sub four meters cars in the Indian car market is quite high. Added to this, its cost would have also been lesser than its elder sibling. Perhaps the reason of not introducing the i3 hybrid car in the Indian auto market could be that the company doesnt want to split the sales of its currently selling crossovers and sedans with any new hybrid siblings. Sources say that BMW will start the delivers of the i8 Hybrid car by late 2014 or early 2015.
