Budget FY15 is expected to give directions and sops for the country’s largest industrial-manufacturing project. The largest of these, the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor, is planned over an area 20% more than the size of Japan — till now the principal investor in the project. (Image source: Thinkstock)
Along with the eastern corridor, the cost of the two projects are now estimated at Rs 54,000 crore but fresh assessments including those on ancillaries show the cost could balloon up to Rs 80,000 crore by 2017-2018. The capital structure of DFCCIL will entail a debt equity ratio of 2:1. (Image source: Thinkstock)
The Budget has one scheme tailor-made for it — the National Investment and Manufacturing Zones. But it will need to be supplemented with labour law relaxations and abrogation of the new Land Acquisition and Relief and Rehabilitation Act. (Image source: Thinkstock)
