Hiring activity in India registered a significant rise in June and the job market is expected to improve further in the coming months as the economy is showing signs of revival, says a report by job portal Naukri.com. (Image Credit: Thinkstock)
The Naukri Job Speak Index for June stood at 1,570, showing a 22% increase in hiring activities compared to the corresponding period last year. It is 2% lower compared to May, 2014.
Industry-wise hiring sentiment was positive with Telecom and BPO seeing an increase of 20% each respectively in June 2014 as compared to June 2013.
A functional area analysis shows that the demand for professionals working in IT and HR & Administration saw the maximum growth, with the Naukri Job Speak Index moving up by 29 per cent and 27 per cent respectively in June 2014 over same period last year. (Image Credit: Reuters)
Amongst cities, Bangalore and Pune have seen the maximum improvement in hiring in June this year over June 2013, with Chennai and Hyderabad close behind. Mumbai and Delhi NCR have seen 17% growth.
