Former Infosys honcho V Balakrishnan declares Rs 189-cr in assets

Former Infosys board member V Balakrishnan on Monday filed nominations for the Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore Central on an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ticket, declaring family assets worth Rs 189 crore. (AP)
The 49-year-old former Infosys chief financial officer and a chartered accountant by training has declared personal movable assets of R155 crore, of which his shares in Infosys and the company’s American Depository Receipts account for as much as R107 crore. The remaining is held in bonds, fixed deposits, mutual funds and savings banks accounts. Balakrishnan’s wife and two daughters together hold movable assets of R25 crore. The family owns an Audi and a Hyundai i10.
Balakrishnan had spent 21 years at Infosys before quitting the company in December 2013. He had joined AAP the day after leaving Infosys, saying he was attracted by the party’s mission to change the way politics was run in the country. Having entered the electoral fray, he is now up against the Bharatiya Janata Party’s sitting MP from Bangalore Central, PC Mohan, and youth Congress leader Rizwan Arshad. (PTI)
