1The job: I love my job and role. I love the unpredictability, dynamism and challenges. I am a person who likes to see opportunities in challenges and adversities; that motivates me and gives me the intellectual challenge and energy. I especially love the ability to constantly think and execute disruption. My vision is to constantly look at ways to improve the aviation segment ? from improving things at the ground-level at airports and building infrastructure to changing the way the government looks at the industry. I dislike and don’t tolerate organisational politics and underperformance. I work to ensure that my team is ambitious not only for their personal growth but the larger team’s growth.
2The weekdays: It?s extremely busy and dynamic with a lot of moving pieces and schedules. I usually wake up early and check my emails and make a couple of early calls. I make a conscious attempt to go to the gym every morning to physically wake my body up and also energise myself. Healthy living and working out is something that is very important to me. While I work out, I think of what my key priorities for the day are and reflect on the day before. I am a father, a husband and a son and I work hard at that. I try my best to balance my personal and professional lives. I am very aggressive and competitive with an always can do attitude which I look for in my team. It’s not easy as you need to be a sprinter learning constantly to run a marathon at that pace. My days are extremely busy and productive. Just as I try to squeeze as much out of every rupee, I do so with every minute in the day. 24 hrs a day just aren’t enough.
3The weekend: I tend to work during weekends, however it is my sacred time with my family. I take on my daddy duties a lot more during the weekends, feeding the boys, playing with them and just taking them out. It’s the simple things and normality that we aim for even if it is as simple as cooking the morning eggs and pancakes/ waffles, or the entire family baking a cake, playing American football, soccer and cricket with the boys, dancing as family, singing, reading books, playing board games or even watching a kids movie together.
I also try to have one evening in the weekend with my wife where we can go out and just have a conversation as adults over dinner, or go dancing or watch a movie. My wife and I like working out together or getting a game of tennis.
4The toys: My iPhone; something feels missing when it’s not with me. Being in the airline industry my phone is always on. It is also my window into my social media activity and with my apps it helps with my productivity, networking, news and, of course, communication. I am a car buff but am not into the expensive cars. I really like old school muscle cars. My favourite car is the 1969 Ford Mustang – a classic, pure muscle car that gives you something to work on. There is something nostalgic about that car for me.
5The logos: I do love fashion with something for all the senses. These aren’t necessarily because of the brand but rather a sense of comfort and emotional connect with that product. Being an aviator, I like the classic Ray Ban aviators for my shades. Hugo Boss, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Ralph Lauren for my Eau De cologne/ perfumes. Skull Candy and Sennheiser headphones for working out and Bowers & Wilkins P5 and Parrot Zik headphones for leisure listening. Nike Bowerman edition for my running shoes and Kenneth Cole and Hugo Boss for formal shoes. Nautica and Crocs for my flip flops. Oakley for my rugged backpacks and Tumi for my luggage. Calvin Klein and Hugo Boss suits fit me well and I usually like their cuts. I have a soft spot for custom bespoke suits. Guess, Zara, M&S and Express for my pants and shirts. Levis for my jeans. Patek Phillippe, Tag Heuer and Rado for my watches.
