AAP to Narendra Modi: Fight dynasty by contesting against Rahul

AAP has so far refrained from targeting BJP’s prime ministerial candidate.

Directly taking on BJP prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi for the first time, AAP leader Kumar Vishwas has challenged him to walk his talk against dynastic politics by contesting against Rahul Gandhi. He has also questioned Modi on why when he promised to clean the Ganga in Varanasi he glossed over the CAG indictment against the erstwhile BJP government in Uttarakhand. Vishwas likely to fight against the Gandhi scion from ?Amethi or wherever else he may contest from?.

?Narendra Modi has time and again trained his guns on the Gandhi family, bulk of his speeches are devoted to criticising the dynasty. Instead of taunting Rahul Gandhi as `shehzada?, why can?t he ? if he has not decided his constituency ? fight against Rahul? Or at least field a senior leader like Arun Jaitley or Nitin Gadkari from Rahul?s constituency? Why can?t he field Advani from Rae Bareli? Reality is that be it corruption or dynasty, BJP?s stance is mere lip service. They did not field a candidate against Dimple Yadav in Kannauj,? Vishwas told The Indian Express Sunday.

AAP has so far refrained from targeting Modi. An internal survey of the party that was released days before the Delhi Assembly polls had revealed that a major chunk of the party?s support base in Delhi comprises people who want to see the Gujarat Chief Minister as the prime minister. It may be these findings that made Vishwas to swiftly clarify that his challenge is not to Modi but to the BJP that raises the issue of dynastic politics when it suits them but does not tackle it head on, ?a favour that the Congress returns when its candidate fails to file nomination when Sushma Swaraj contests from Vidisha?.

He also questioned why during Modi?s pitch in Varanasi about the Ganga and the need to clean it, he did not refer for once to the Uttarakhand CAG report on the financial irregularities committed by the Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank government there in the name of cleaning the river. ?If he is concerned about the Ganga he should have spoken of the CAG report against Nishank,? he said.
