Adani Power Maharashtra Private Limited has issued a tender notice inviting global bids for supply of main plant?boiler-turbine-generator?package along with auxiliaries for its 1,320-mw Tirora thermal power project in Gondia district of Maharashtra.
The project is based on super-critical operational parameters. The brief scope of work involves design, engineering and procurement, manufacture, supply for site, erection, testing and commissioning of the equipment. The company is developing the power project in the Gondia district, which is the home district of civil aviation minister Praful Patel.
According to sources, the company has planned an investment of over Rs 5,500 crore for the project development. The coal ministry has already allotted a coal block for captive mining purpose in the Vidarbha region. The project developer plans to commission the project in 36 months in 2011. The tender document will be up for sale from December 10 to December 20, and the last date for submission of bid is slated for January 21, 2008. Aspirants can purchase the bid document for Rs 20,000.
Adani has urged the power ministry to accord mega power project status to the project under Mega Power Policy. If it gets it, the company would be entitled for mega project benefits such as custom
duty exemption. For the bidder to qualify, the developer has stipulated requirements such as?if the bidder is a manufacturer of boiler and turbine generator sets, he should have supplied at least two boilers and turbine generator sets of minimum 300-mw capacity.
