Dhoni to promote Barclays Premier League for Star Sports

Star Sports has appointed Indian cricket team captain and youth icon, MS Dhoni, as the brand ambassador to promote Barclays Premier League soccer (BPL) in India. A Manchester United fan, MS Dhoni will invite all sports fans to ?Join the Game? in a clutter breaking integrated marketing campaign. The campaign will have a strong on-air and digital media thrust. This announcement comes on the back of the sports broadcaster announcing the launch of Hindi commentary for the first time on BPL. The Hindi commentary will be in addition to the English commentary and will be available for over 100 live matches across the season. Vijay Rajput, chief operating officer, ESPN Software India Pvt. Ltd., said, ?We are delighted to have MS Dhoni come on board as the brand ambassador for BPL in the country. We are targeting to expand the fan base of BPL in India by leveraging the iconic power and fan following of MS Dhoni to attract cricket fans to sample BPL ? Duniya ka sabse bada league.?

N.Dilip Venkatraman has decided to move on from his role as the CEO of CNN-IBN and IBN7 in order to pursue his entrepreneurial interests. During his eight-year stint, Venkatraman managed a variety of mandates on the general news side of the group. Prior to his current role, he led marketing operations for CNN-IBN, IBN7 and IBN-Lokmat and also managed IBN Focus, the customised media solutions unit for these news channels. Apart from his leadership role in building CNN-IBN into one of the country?s most reputed news brands, Venkatraman is well-known for conceptualising benchmark properties at the IBN News Network. Ajay Chacko, COO, Network18 will oversee the operations of the IBN News Network in the interim.

Ferzad Variyava joins Law & Kenneth as executive creative director

Ferzad Variyava has joined Law & Kenneth as executive creative director (ECD). He was earlier at Publicis Ambience as ECD. He will operate from Mumbai and will work on accounts such as Renault, Club Mahindra, ING Vyasa among others. Variyava will report to Rahul Nangia, chief creative officer (South and West). All the creative teams report to Charles Victor, NCD, Law & Kenneth.

Variyava has more than 13 years of experience and has worked with agencies such as JWT, McCann Erickson and Publicis Ambience.

Zee appoints Manoj Padmanabhan as digital operations business head

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (Zeel) has appointed Manoj Padmanabhan as digital operations business head. Padmanabhan was earlier the senior vice-president marketing (digital) and sales (new media) and takes over from Vishal Malhotra. Padmanabhan will now be heading all the digital operations under Zee Media including Essel group’s OTT platform Ditto TV. Padmanabhan has vast experience in the field of digital marketing, marketing strategy, brand management and product marketing. He has been with Zee Network since 2007.
