The Centre on Thursday challenged the Bombay High Court?s order that restrained it from implementing the decision to cut short the supply of CNG to Mumbai. It has also filed another petition seeking transfer of various petitions pending before high courts of Delhi and Bombay to avoid multiplicity of proceedings.
On Wednesday the Delhi government also challenged the oil ministry?s decision to cut allocation of cheaper fuel to the national capital despite the apex court on April 5, 2002 asking the Union government to give priority to Delhi?s transport sector, including private vehicles, to check pollution. A bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam posted the matter for hearing on Monday after solicitor-general Mohan Parasaran sought early date in view of the Gujarat High Court (GHC) likely to give directions in a fresh contempt petition on Tuesday.
