Datsun to unveil its global concept car at Auto Expo 2014

Datsun on Wednesday revealed a sketch of its new concept car, which will have its world premiere at the Delhi Auto Expo in February.

The concept car represents a possible direction for the future expansion of Datsun?s model line-up in high-growth markets, such as India, a statement said on Wednesday.

The proportions of the car in the sketch indicates that the car may be smaller than the Micra-based Datsun Go.

Datsun originated in Japan as DAT-GO (the DAT-car) almost a century ago in 1914.

DAT means lightning-fast in Japanese but is also a reference to the first letters of family names of the three financiers who supported the business at the time: Den, Aoyama and Takeuchi.

Nissan Motor had announced the return of the Datsun brand, Nissan?s third global brand, alongside Nissan and Infiniti, in March 2012.

Datsun vehicles will start sales operations in India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa this year.
