Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday scaled down his demand on the suspension of four police officers. Instead, he sought ?at least a transfer of these officers?.
?I met Delhi Police Commissioner, home minister and LG and demanded that the police officials should be suspended or at least transferred,? he tweeted.
In another development, the names of two police officers suggested by the CM as replacements in the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) met Lt-Governor Najeeb Jung and refused to join the department.
The CM had written to Jung earlier this week, seeking the transfers of five top officers of the ACB. He had suggested the names of two officers as replacements.
In a meeting with officers of the ACB, the chief minister had asked them as to what action had been taken on the sting operations conducted by citizens, who had complained on the anti-corruption hotline set up by the government. The CM reportedly pulled up the officers for not taking proper action on the complaints.
In response, the officers told Kejriwal that they were conducting investigations according to procedure. The officers told Kejriwal that it was not possible to register a case on the basis of audio recordings.
Following the meeting, Kejriwal wrote to the L-G, demanding the transfers of five top officers of the ACB, including Additional Commissioner of Police G C Dwivedi, DCP A S Cheema and three more ACPs.
Reached for comment, Dwivedi said, ?I do not wish to comment on the matter. The decision has been taken by a senior.?
The CM?s office stated, ?The transfers were sought because the department?s response has been slow and tardy ever since the anti-corruption hotline was started. People have been coming forth with their complaints, but the follow-up action has not been up to the mark.?
