Ek Villain an established hit with Rs 103 cr in box office collections; Bobby Jasoos sinks

‘Ek Villain’ business consolidates standing of Shraddha Kapoor with another major hit to her name after Aashiqui 2.

From the past week?s releases,?’Ek Villain’?is now an established hit. The Shraddha Kapoor-Sidharth Malhotra starrer’s box office collections crossed the 100 crore mark as by the end of the third weekend, it had already earned Rs 103.37 crore.

Trade analyst Vinod Mirani says, ?The film?s business also helps consolidate the standing of Shraddha Kapoor with another major hit to her name after?Aashiqui 2.?

‘Ek Villain’ opening day box office collections were Rs 16.72 crore, followed by Rs 50.70 crore in the first weekend and Rs 77.20 in the first week.

However,?Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, that marked the entry of another actor from the third generation Kapoor clan, Armaan Jain, is almost washed out with the business being limited to Rs.?2.40 cr. ?Usually, the audience gives its verdict after watching the films. However, in this case, the audience has kept away from the film,? said trade analyst Taran Adarsh, adding that the film failed miserably. To which Mirani adds, ?The pre-release promotion angle of the film was unimaginative to say the least.?

Even the Vidya Balan-starrer?Bobby Jasoos?remained poor as it could just make Rs. 10.85 cr by the end of the second weekend. ?Despite being a fair entertainer even if not up to the mark, the film hasn?t been able to do good business,? says Mirani while Dutta adds, ?Bobby Jasoosis holding up in a limited number of shows, and?Ek Villain?enjoyed the overflow from?Humpty ?.?The occupancy was at 30 per cent for?Ek Villain?now.?
