Food and rooms: Why Shiv Sena MPs got angry

The 11 Shiv Sena MPs at the centre of the Maharashtra Sadan row have alleged their ?grievances? were not addressed for over two months. While one of the complaints was that quality, Maharashtran food was not being served, others were raised in a meeting at the media hall of the Sadan before the vandalism. These grievances find mention in the incident report filed by the manager, Maharashtra Sadan:

?Reason for showing special favour for allotting a room to Shri Satyapal Singh who is an MP from UP state…

?They complained about strong odour in water flowing from the taps, which many a time flows muddy water…

Chef turned woman into ?200-a-night prostitute
Shraddha Kapoor on money, sex and Rs 100 crore club
World’s fastest bowler: Morne Morkel at a humongous 173.9 kmph at IPL 2013, but Hawk-Eye was not looking
Indian rupee’s ranking slips 5 ranks to 20th in foreign exchange market turnover in 2013

?They also objected to the allotment of room to Rajya Sabha member Ajay Sancheti, who has been allotted a bungalow in Delhi itself, stating the room is many a time occupied by his PA and not by the MP…

?They also complained about the bad quality/taste of food and service of IRCTC

?All MPs of the Shiv Sena should be provided Minister of State category rooms.?

In a handwritten note, the same report says, ?The Hon?ble MPs were explained the facts about allotment of Shri SP Singh and his security threat. But, the Hon?ble MPs did not agree with the explanation. Thereafter, the incident took place.?

Mumbai South MP Anil Sawant said, ?We wanted to raise these issues for a long time but there was nobody to address these concerns. In a sustained manner our issues were ignored including by the resident commissioner. Why should an MP from another state get preferential treatment while we were boxed into small rooms??

Satyapal Singh could not be reached for comment. Contacted by The Indian Express, Sancheti said, ?A house was only allotted to me a year and a half after I became an MP and in that time I was given a temporary allotment in the Sadan. My residence will be ready within two months. Rules state that I must give up the room in the Sadan once I begin staying in the official residence. None of the Shiv Sena members have expressed their displeasure to me directly.?
