Stepping up the offensive against Narendra Modi, Congress on Monday said he is a ?potential accused? in the Tulsiram Prajapati murder case and should be interrogated by CBI, hours after the BJP?s prime ministerial candidate promised to cleanse the political system and Parliament of criminal elements. Senior party leader and Union law minister Kapil Sibal also demanded the arrest and interrogation of Parag Shah, who was earlier working in the Gujarat CM?s office, claiming he had detailed talks with the police officer concerned who allegedly executed the murder of Prajapati. ?This evidence has come for the first time, which shows that the chief minister?s office was directly involved in what was happening? with regard to the encounters, Sibal said, submitting call detail records of a conversation between Parag and Rajkumar Pandian, who ?planned and executed the murder of Prajapati?.
1984 riots: Akalis protest Amarinder?s remark on Tytler
Hundreds of Sikh protesters belonging to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday staged a protest outside Congress headquarters against its Amritsar Lok Sabha candidate Amarinder Singh?s ?clean chit? to fellow party leader Jagdish Tytler in the anti-Sikh riots of 1984. Led by Delhi SAD president Manjit Singh GK, protesters reached the Congress office at 24, Akbar Road on Monday afternoon, holding placards and raising slogans against Amarinder and Tytler. Police also erected barricades to prevent them from reaching the Congress office and later had to resort to use of water cannons to disperse them.
FIR against Kejriwal, Vishwas for violating model code
An FIR was on Monday registered against AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Kumar Vishwas, and 10 others for allegedly violating the model code of conduct and prohibitory orders. The FIR was lodged at Gauriganj police station here after authorities reviewed the video of Vishwas? campaign, Circle officer Naveen Kumar Singh said. Kejriwal and Vishwas had allegedly violated the model code and prohibitory orders by holding roadside meetings without taking permission and disrupting traffic.
