Sacked Amul chief seeks Supreme Court relief

Amul chairman Vipulbhai M Chaudhary moves Supreme Court against being ousted.

Vipulbhai M Chaudhary, the ousted chairman of the Rs 13,750-crore milk federation that sells Amul brand of dairy products, moved the Supreme Court on Monday challenging the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) board?s decision to eject him.

Senior counsel CA Sundaram and counsel Anip Sachthey mentioned the matter before a bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam, which posted the matter for hearing on Wednesday.

Challenging the Gujarat High Court?s January 10 decision that turned down its plea against implementation of no-confidence motion passed against him by the federation, Sundaram said the matter needs to be heard urgently as GCMMF might immediately implement the no-confidence motion passed against Chaudhary, thereby creating way for fresh elections for the top post in Gujarat’s dairy sector.
