SummaryIn just over two weeks, tournament has become one of the most talked about events on Twitter of all time.

Luis Suarez, Ronaldo, Pepe are the top most mentioned players in Asia Pacific, ahead of Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. globally

The thrill of each goal, the ecstasy of each victory, the impatient wait for your squad to return to the pitch the #WorldCup has brought people across the globe to Twitter to share every heart-pounding moment. Tweets have reached 300 million, double that of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and we have only completed the Group stage of the tournament.

While Lionel Messi is most mentioned globally on Twitter during the World Cup so far, Luis Suarez (@luis16suarez) is tops in Asia Pacific and in India. The infamous biting incident and subsequent ban for Suarez have been more discussed among Asians and Indians, than Messi's sparkling performance and four-goal tally. Meanwhile, the football players most tweeted about in India are Suarez, Pepe and Christiano Ronaldo.

With the group stage now complete, weve compiled metrics and visualizations that illustrate how the conversation has unfolded on Twitter since the matches began.
