To counter ?Aam Aadmi Party effect?, BJP revamps campaign

BJP has decided to change its campaigning strategy in the Delhi to counter the Aam Aadmi Party effect in the capital.

The BJP has decided to change its campaigning strategy in the Delhi to counter the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) effect in the capital. The party is planning to mobilise its grassroot workers and hold mock ?janta durbars? in areas where the Aam Aadmi Party had performed better in the Assembly elections last December.

Keeping in mind the fact that slum residents had voted for the Aam Aadmi Party, the BJP is planning a massive campaign across the city that will be area and issue specific.

?We will hold mock janta durbars to show people how the Aam Aadmi Party functions and how it deceived people by promising them things that were not permitted under the law. We will also give them solutions to their problems. The play will look at the emotional and rational quotient of the AAP rule of 49 days,? Sanjay Kaul, in-charge of the BJP campaign in Delhi, said.

The party is preparing a campaign strategy for every group that voted for the Aam Aadmi Party in the Assembly elections. To woo women voters, the BJP is taking the help of bhajan mandalis. To target youth, the BJP will hold street plays. To get Muslim votes, the party?s minority cell will be mobilised and to reach out to professionals, the social networking teams are in place, a BJP leader said.

The party has started an online group called ?Local Circles?. ?This is the first online local community for residents of Delhi/NCR, who support Narendra Modi and want him as the prime minister of India. Members can communicate and collaborate with each other to create awareness and promote Modi as the next prime minister,? reads the mail sent out by the BJP.

The BJP sources said the party has strategised its campaign in the city to create maximum impact in minimum time.

?We don?t have much time and as there are several units already campaigning, we have prepared a bouquet of activities that we will launch in the next three-four days. It will be done in a layered manner so that no area is left uncovered,? a senior leader said.
