Third-party motor insurance is not a profitable portfolio for insurers, with the amount of claims outgo highest for commercial vehicles. Delhi leads in motor theft claims, accounting for 17% of the total, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 16%; these two states together contribute nearly a third of total theft claims. States such as Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu account for more than half of own damage claims.
And, in case of third-party death and injury claims, Tamil Nadu tops the list.
